UK Letter Home November 2002

Welcome to the November edition of UK Bound

What a month it's been. What have we been up to this month... Let me think. Nobody figured out what we were getting when I said that we were going to play with some two and four legged creatures. Anyone checked out the website lately? The pics have been up for a week or two. Any last guesses? We went out falconing. We used harris hawks and ferrits to hunt rabbits. After the rabbit hunting we were able to handle an owl and a bald eagle. We also had a demo of a paragrin falcon which was quite interesting.

Have you been listening to the top 40 lately? Last year this time, we had Bob The Builder and The Tweenies in the top 40. If you have children under 5, you will know them well. For this year, what is up? We have Elivs, Fleetwood Mac and The Rolling Stones with Satisfaction. Now come on, Elivis died over 20 years ago, Fleetwood Mac, although a good band in their time hasn't been together in about 15 years (OK - except for their grubby money tour), and I have no idea when the Stones orignally recorded Satisfacation. That's my 2p on that story.

We had a little misfortune this month. I think I have told you that the Scottish Eagles had moved to Glasgow... Well, due to some mismanagement, the team folded. One press release blamed the lack of fans, another blamed the fact that they didn't have any home games for the first month, and thus, no revenue. I think they just didn't advertise. Everyone I talked to said that they didn't even know that Glasgow had a team, and when I told them that the Ayr team had moved, they didn't even where they played. It was a shame, as it took a couple of hours to travel to Ayr, and it was much closer when they moved. They might be moving back to Ayr next year, so we'll just have to wait. I think they didn't realize just how big of a football town Glasgow is. We have 4 different divisions of football, plus rugby plus ... Although hockey (ice hokey to people here) is a better game, it just isn't a top priority.

The moggies are doing fine. They appreciate the coldness of winter, as we have the fireplace on all the time, which means that they rarely move from it's orange glow. Every once and a while they get up to stretch, but that's pretty much their daily task.

I guess that's about it. Kim only had Christmas and Boxing day off, so we'll be staying home. We tried to get even the 27th off, so we could take a weekend in Paris or something, but we'll do it next year. It'll be nice to stay at home.

We still have some home repairs on the horizon - we've been trying toget some quotes together, so we'll let you know how that goes.

And, the same rule applies as normal - write back a little ditty, and I'll share my website with you. It's not too much to ask - I've hundreds of pics and the France page alone has taken over a dozen hours, has over a hundred pictures, and it's almost done. The falconry page has about 30 pics, and it's fully uploaded.

That's about it for this edition. Have a good one.

Brian and Kim.
